2020 Series 29 - LDS

TRHL Owners,

Now the regular season has ended. The McCallions faced off against the Pale Hose in G163. McCallions triumphed, 7-5, and will now face the mighty Non-Roster Invitees in the LDS.

Post-season:
American League - (4) McCallions vs. (1) Non-Roster Invitees, (3) Heroes vs. (2) Whitecaps
National League - (4) Canons vs. (1) Rotisserie, (3) Rattlers vs. (2) Clowns

If teams can't play HTH via NetPlay, let me know. I'm getting back into the LBBL post-season as well so will be pushing both post-seasons along this month, trying to finish by December.

Halifax and Higglytown are used to tearing lumps out of each other and the ALDS, pitting two 102-win teams against each other, has not been an exception so far. The Whitecaps currently lead 3-1, using the long ball specialty to win two at home (5-3 and 7-3) and then to take game 4 5-2 after dropping one back in Game 3 as the Heroes found the hitting bats and won 7-4.

Halifax has been bunting and stealing like crazy, with our fast little guys getting much more time with Mike Yastrzemski still out from his season ending injury (he will be back for Game 6!)

Results for Corpus Christi v Siskiyou

Game One: Siskiyou 13-6. Giolito gets the win despite giving up six. Went down early, with a score of 5-1 after the Canons half of the 3rd, but Siskiyou scored five in the bottom half to take a 6-5 advantage. While Corpus Christi promptly tied it up, Siskiyou added runs from there, while the home team bullpen held the Canons scoreless over the remaining.

Game Two: Siskiyou 5-4. Siskiyou scores early, with three in the first off Lance Lynn, and two in the 4th, and though Canons claw back to within one late in the last three innings, Wendelken struck out Starling Marte to end the comeback bid.

Game Three: Siskiyou 5-1. Canons score first off of Gausman, and Senzatela holds the one run advantage through the first half, but Siskiyou ties it up in the 5th, and takes the lead with a pair of runs in each of the 7th and the 8th.

Game Four: Canons 2-1. All the scoring happened in the first half, with Porcello somehow coming out on top of Cobb. Melcancon, Marhsall, and Pena close it out, the latter two plowing through the lefty heavy Siskiyou lineup.

Game Five: Canons 6-0. German Marquez goes eight innings giving up three hits. Giolito pitches poorly, giving up five runs on seven hits. A first inning Grand Slam by Candalario set the tone, and the visiting Rotisserie couldn't get anything going.

Game Six: Rotisserie 6-5. Back in Siskiyou's Coleseum Buehler and Lynn traded ok-ish starts. Buehler got tagged first, giving up a grand slam to Stassi in the 2nd, but Siskiyou got a big inning scoring six in the 4th, capped off by an Aroyyo three run homer.

Siskiyou wins in Six.

Game one featured Brady Singer for Mississauga against Dinelson Lamet. In the bottom of the first the NRIs put together eight singles and a walk to take a 5-0 lead. In the top of the second, Gurriel singled and Nate Lowe homered to reduce the deficit to 5-2. In the top of the third
Grisham walked and two outs later Guerrro homered to make it 5-4. Lamet was out after five but the McCallions could muster no offense against the bullpen and the NRIs added an insurance run in the eighth resulting in a 6-4 final. With Lamet getting the win and Foster getting the save.

Game two featured Zach Plesac for Mississauga against Tony Gonsolin. With two outs in the bottom of the first Juan Soto and Mitch Moreland launched back to back homers to give the NRIs a 2-0 lead. In the top of the second a Brandon Lowe error and a Travis Shaw double made it 2-1. In the bottom of the third Jake Cronenworth went deep to give the NRIs a 3-1 lead. In the bottom of the fourth Moreland went deep again to make it 4-1. In the top of the sixth a single by France, a double by Grisham and then a single by Gurriel made it 4-3 but Gurriel was tossed out at second when the throw to home was cut off.
In the top of the seventh Marcus Semien homered to cut the deficit to one. But the NRIs bullpen settled down and Juan Soto hit his second homer of the game.

Game three moved to Mississauga where Brandon Woodruff started for the NRIs against Pablo Lopez. With two outs in the top of the first Juan Soto walked and Mitch Moreland doubled to give the NRIs a 1-0 lead. In the top of the second Verdugo walked, Devers singled and Salvador Perez added a sacrifice fly to extend the NRIs lead to 2-0. In the bottom of the second a Cronenworth error, two walks and Semien single knotted up the game at 2-2. In the top of the third a Soto walk and Moreland's 3rd homer of the series made it 4-2 NRIs. In the top of the 4th Devers doubled and Salvador Perez homered to make it 6-2. In the topof the fifth, Willie Castro homered to make the score 7-2, which was the final score. The win going to Woodruff.

Game four was Max Fried against Kikuchi. In the top of the first with two on and no out Juan Soto hit his third homer. A triple by Niko Goodrum and a Castro sacrifice fly made it 4-0. In the bottom of the first with two on and no out Vladimir Guerrero went deep to cut the deficit to 4-3. The next batter Gurriel singled and two outs later he scored on a double by Travis Shaw. The McCallions loaded the bases on a walk and an error but the runners were stranded to make it 4-4 at the end of one. In the top of the
second Salvador Perez lead off with a single and scored when the next batter, Niko Goodrum tripled, but the NRIs stranded Goodrum. In the bottom of the third Sean Murphy homered to knot up the score at 5-5. In the bottom of the seventh, with Jeffress on the mound Travis Shaw singled, Murphy walked and Semien doubled scoring Shaw. Victor Gonzalez came in and shut the door, retiring Ty France on a grounder to short with the infield in and striking out Sisco. The McCallions added an insurance run in the eighth and the NRIs bats were silenced as Mississauga won 7-5. The win went to Cisnero who shut the NRIs down for the final 2.1 innings.

Game five was Lamet versus Singer again. For the first time in the series the NRIs were scoreless in the first. In the top of the second, just after Ryan made that comment, Mitch Moreland lead off with his fourth homer of the series. In the top of the third the NRIs put together four singles, four walks and a sacrifice fly to make it 7-0. The final score was 9-0 with Lamet getting his second win of the series.

Deciding the MVP is a tough call. Flip a coin. Juan Soto had 9 walks, 3 HRs, a .400 Avg, .625 OBP, 1.067 Slg with 6 runs and 7 RBIs. Mitch Moreland only played four out of the five games
but had 4 HRs, hit .500 with a .588 OBP and 1.429 Slg with 6 runs and 10 RBIs.

I don't think you can do that, unless someone else gets injured during the series. I see no provision in the Constitution for changes to rosters during the series except to replace an injured player (who is then ineligible for the next series.
If you want Yazstremski in the series, I think he has to be on the 26 man from day 1.
